Corona & Domains, a match made in hell!

People and businesses across the world are fighting to safeguard their lives and livelihood during the CoronVirus pandemic. While most industries have shut down or are running at reduced capacity, domain and domainers are more active than ever before.
Domainers are always on the forefront of change and truly reflect the pulse of the world via the domains they register. Come hell or high water, nothing stops domainers from seeking out the latest trend and using it to capitalize on it.
COVID-19 is one of the largest global events in recent history as is evident with domain registrations we have seen in the past few weeks.
Here are some interesting facts regarding domains and COVID-19.
1. CoronaVirus(.)com was registered way back in 2002, and is currently owned by GoDaddy. Luckily the domain forwards to the WHO's corona virus page.
2. 51,833 is the number of domains that are registered under the (.)com TLD as of 30th March 2020 that are associated with "Corona Virus" or "Covid-19",
3. 21,228 domains are registered under the various country codes with (.)de leading at 2214 domains and Indian ccTLD (.)in at 651 domains.
4. Strong Positive Correlation - There is a strong positive correlation between daily the COVID-19 cases and the number of new domains registered associated with COVID-19.
